I will represent an author whose writing I deem to be marketable, under the auspices of a 15% agency-client contract.
It should be understood that most original manuscripts require editorial adjustments before they can be considered market-ready. This is no reflection on an author's creativity. Many writers with the best ideas and storylines are not particularly proficient in the mechanics of grammar and manuscript format. That's the purpose of editors and agents -- to make your work the best that it can be, and to present it in a form that publishers will notice and appreciate.
Please note that I do not require that editing be performed by CUNARD HATHCOX AGENCY. I do require, however, that the job be done right, by a competent editor. For several reasons I do not refer to other editing services, but my clients are completely free to seek them out on their own.
Occult, metaphysical, or New Age subjects
will not be considered.
Otherwise, it should not be assumed
that CHA's interest is limited to the Christian market
or that we do not handle a broad range of subjects/genres.

unless it is incorporated into another work,
or short stories or articles except as a courtesy
to clients for whom we represent book-length works.

western novels, or stage or screenplays,
from new clients.
We still handle some children's material that
we consider to be of a highly superior nature.
CHA does not represent any uncompleted work.

Be sure that disks are not broken or falling apart.

All synopsis or descriptive material must be
included in the body of your e-mail message.
Do not ask an agent to visit your website,
read your material there,
and contact you if it interests him.
Manuscripts should be submitted for consideration.
EDITING SERVICES and LITERARY AGENCY...
are two separate entities. If you are seeking a literary representative but do not wish to employ an editor, please do not hesitate to submit your manuscript. Editing is available for those who need it, but this is NOT a prerequisite to acquire CHA's interest in representation.
